Hello CWC Members!

Happy April!! I greatly enjoyed seeing many of you at our Sterling Math and Science fundraiser on March 22nd at Longview Country Club! I hope you all had as much fun as I did connecting with wonderful friends, enjoying a delicious dinner, playing fun casino games, and most importantly, raising money for such a worthwhile cause! Thanks to your generosity, we raised $28,000 for Sterling Math and Science, more than in any prior year! This incredible result is a true reflection of the generosity and spirit of our membership.

As we begin planning for the upcoming year, we have a number of club chair and co-chair opportunities available. These roles are essential to the success of CWC, and it is only through the involvement and commitment of our members that we are able to offer the wide variety of programs and experiences we all enjoy. Without members stepping forward to lead, some of our beloved activities and interest groups may not be able to continue next year. Our club truly thrives when members share their time and talents, and I encourage anyone who has been considering getting more involved to take that next step and help ensure the strength and continuity of CWC.  Please see the Clubs section of this newsletter for which roles are available and how to volunteer.

I would also like to highlight an important upcoming opening for our Facebook Chair role, which plays a vital part in managing and maintaining our private CWC Facebook group and keeping our members informed, engaged, and connected. See more details about these opportunities just after "Club News".  A very special thank you to Melissa Smith, who has done an outstanding job in this role over the past year and a half. As our very first Facebook Chair, Melissa set the standard with her professionalism, consistency, and creativity, and her contributions have made a lasting impact on our club. We are so grateful for all she has done and wish her all the best as she relocates from Charlotte.

Thank you all for being such an important part of CWC. I am continually inspired by this community and all that we accomplish together

Warmly,
Laurey

Volunteer Events & Happenings in Philanthropy

PLEASE JOIN US at our APRIL 2nd PHILANTHROPY MEETING!

Our focus at our Thursday, April 2nd meeting will be our partnership with Lift Up Carolinas. The mission of Lift Up Carolinas is to serve those who are not being served in our community through an array of philanthropic programs.

Lift Up states: “WE FEED • WE CLOTHE • WE MENTOR • WE EDUCATE.”

We are proud to help them in these vital goals!  At our CWC meeting, we will host a wonderful speaker, and then do a hands-on project making packaging dental supplies for families.   You may also bring items with you for our April Lift Up Carolinas Collection Drive for homeless children.  (See flyer below).

On Wednesday, May 6th we'll be putting together all of the supplies at the Lift Up site.

Join us April 2nd from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at Uwharrie Bank

PROMISING PAGES

The Carolina Women’s Club met on March 19 at Promising Pages to wipe down, clean, and repair books for distribution to our CMS school communities.

With Spring Break, vacations, quick getaways ahead of summer, and illnesses, we still showed up and got the job done.

We were honored to have a visit from Executive Director Kelly Cates. With Anna away, Dana Powell stepped-up in a big way to ensure everything ran smoothly. Promising Pages expressed how much they appreciate CWC and has invited us to participate in a future visit to a CMS school to help hand out books for the summer—more details to come.

Our next Promising Pages volunteer session is scheduled for Thursday, April 16 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.

CWC Clubs

Are you actively attending CWC events and enjoying everything the Club has to offer?

Don’t just attend your favorite Club events, run the show! Be the Leader, not just the member! Take the lead by becoming a Club Chair for the 2026-2027 season in one of the following roles:

EUCHRE Club Chair: Ace the game! Be the Chair that turns the next Euchre season into a winning hand! If you love calling “trump” and organizing the fun, you are the perfect fit.

BUNCO Club Chair (evenings): It is time to shake things up! Get ready for events of high-stakes fun (okay, it’s just dice) and lively conversations.

HOME & GARDEN Club Chair: Attention avid gardeners! Be the “root” and put your own personal spin on making our Home & Garden Club grow. You do not have to be a master home crafter, just tap into the joy of creating and the pride of sharing a skill, either of your own or of others.

LADIES NIGHT Club Chair: Lead the charge for the next Ladies Night event! As Chair, you can create events that bring us together for laughs and connection. There have been amazing, creative events in the past such as silk screen printing and culinary wine and chocolate tasting. Be the Club chair that keeps the excitement going!

CULINARY Club Chair: There is nothing quite like breaking bread to bring people closer together. The Club Chair role is perfect for someone who loves the social aspect of dining and connecting people over a shared table where food is the catalyst for conversation.

As a Club Chair, you will have the chance to put your personal stamp on an event. Whether it is a wine tasting, a high energy game night, or a creative craft or workshop, we want your vision. Do not be shy! There is training provided for all Club Chairs and support is always available for questions and help.

If you are interested in any of the Club Chair roles listed above, have questions about the roles, or just want to share ideas for the Clubs, please contact:

"No Shows"

We understand that plans can sometimes change unexpectedly, and we truly appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm in signing up for club events. That said, when cancellations happen after the posted deadline, it can make it challenging to manage reservations and ensure the best experience for the group. We kindly encourage everyone to be as certain as possible when registering and to keep the cancellation window in mind, as it helps us continue planning smooth and enjoyable events for all.

HOSTS are always needed

Our club thrives because of the energy and involvement of our members, and it’s most successful when many people step forward to host events. Hosting doesn’t have to be complicated, and it’s a great way to connect with other members and keeps our calendar full of fun opportunities. When you see canceled event on our calendar it is mostly because we did not have a member step up to host the event.  When more members participate as hosts, it ensures a vibrant, engaging experience for everyone.

We’re Growing Our MarComm Dream Team!!

Love the Club?

Love connecting people?

We’ve got two fun (and impactful) ways to get involved:

Co-Chair of Marketing & Communications
Think of this as a strategic sidekick role. You’ll partner closely with the VP of MarComm to shape how we show up as a club (supporting big ideas, tracking what’s working, and stepping in when needed). If you enjoy thinking about messaging, engagement, and how to make good things even better, this is a great fit (and a natural path to future leadership). It's a fantastic way to give back to the club with a small time commitment that is sure to reward you with lots of fun.

If this sounds like you (or someone you know), please let us know!

Chair of Facebook (a.k.a. Our Social Spark!)
You already know who this person is … maybe it’s you. She enjoys Facebook (or Instagram) posts with ease, spots what’s fun, and never hesitates to jump in and get others engaged. This role will help bring the energy - welcoming members, sparking conversation, and making our private group a place people want to check in. If social media feels less like a task and more like your happy place, we need you.

Interested (or know someone perfect for this role)? Reach out. We’d love to hear from you!
