President:  Catherine Lewis 

Catherine is honored to serve as President of the Carolina Women’s Club. She leads with four core values — integrity, transparency, inclusiveness, and commitment—and bring a fresh perspective while honoring the vision of our founders.

 

Catherine truly enjoys connecting with members, building friendships, and creating opportunities for everyone to feel engaged and involved. She looks forward to working alongside this remarkable community of women as we continue to strengthen our impact and support the communities we serve.

Betty Blackwell

Betty is a retired educator, community leader, and long - time advocate for women, families, and children.

Her leadership style is grounded in empathy, transparency, and teamwork. As Vice President, Betty will focus on supporting the President, strengthening member engagement, encouraging participation across committees, and helping guide the Club’s continued growth and impact.

With decades of leadership experience, a heart for service, and a genuine love for the Carolina Women’s Club Betty is committed to contributing to the legacy of sisterhood, service, and community that defines the organization.

Treasurer: 
Carol Fletcher 

Carol Fletcher brings more than 15 years of financial and operational experience to the Treasurer role. After a successful career with a software company, she launched her own consulting firm in 2004, helping businesses establish job-based budgets, track progress against financial targets, and forecast costs to ensure projects stayed on budget.

 

Carol has served as Treasurer of the Raintree Women’s Golf Association for four years, where she is known for her accuracy, transparency, and steady leadership. A member of the Carolina Women’s Club since 2017, she has chaired the Travel and Culture Committee, planning memorable local and international trips for members.

 

Her blend of professional expertise and dedicated volunteer service makes her a strong and reliable candidate for Treasurer.

Secretary:  Arminda Resto

Arminda Resto is an accomplished communications and business professional with extensive experience across advertising, financial services, and strategic marketing. She began her career in education before becoming an award-winning advertising consultant, earning distinctions such as the Golden Fingers Club, the highest prestigious award in the industry, and Salesperson of the Year. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Sales & Marketing Executives Association of San Juan, chairing key committees and supporting membership growth initiatives.

After relocating to the United States, Arminda worked in the credit card division of Chase Manhattan Bank and was selected to serve internationally in Mumbai, India as a Subject Matter Expert. She is Co-Founder and Senior Publicist of Latin2Latin Marketing + Communications, bringing nearly two decades of expertise in media relations, brand strategy, and executive communications, along with strong governance awareness and organizational leadership.

Vice President - SOCIAL:  Crystal Egbuna 

Crystal has been a member of the Carolina Women's Club since 2014, where she held the position as Clubs Chair and oversaw nine clubs and helped to organize, set up for club events, notify club chairs of new members, and coordinated with club chairs with any updates. Crystal was also Co-chair of the CWC Bowling Club.

Crystal is a Real Estate Broker Referral Agent with Berkshire Hathaway Home services Elite Properties.  She formerly served on the planning committee of UNCF Charlotte Mayor's Masked Ball 2017-2019. Crystal was introduced to the STEM for Kids Charlotte (Sterling Math & Science Foundation) through CWC member, Betty Blackwell in 2016. when she volunteered for the golf fundraiser.  Currently Crystal is serving as Secretary for the STEM Foundation since 2024.

After volunteering, Crystal knew she wanted to be a part of a foundation that is so passionate about giving back to the community, with an emphasis on catering to our underserved youth. Crystal's ministry and passion are Philanthropy. She loves serving the community and some of the places where she volunteers for Safe Alliance, Second Harvest Food Bank, Classroom Central, and Doves Nest, just to name a few.

Sandy Wolchok 
Sandy Wolchok

Sandy is returning for her second year as CWC Web Administration VP. Sandy took this role because she enjoy solving puzzles, tinkering on the computer and keeping busy (within reason).  Sandy finds it fun to get a new electronic device and play with it. She also enjoys reading, travel, cooking/baking and getting to know the wonderful women of CWC.

Vice President - CLUBS:  Robin Meeks 

Robin joined CWC in May of 2023 at the suggestion of another active Club member. Her goal was not only to make a social connection with other women, but also to volunteer in events and projects that support families and educational institutions involved in community-level change. She was a CWC Home & Garden Club Chair for 2024-2025, continues to be an active events committee member, and is a regular participant in overall Club events.

Robin has over three decades of Human Resources experience in the financial, retail, and health-care sectors in Boston, Chicago, Kansas City, and San Diego. She specialized in employee relations, focusing on nurturing an inclusive and supportive environment, while building trust and fostering a collaborative culture. In her role as VP of Clubs, Robin will continue to use an empathetic and solutions-oriented approach to respond to ALL types of questions, suggested solutions, and ideas, to make all of Clubs even better.

Terri Poindexter Smith

Terri is a senior communications, marketing, and proposal operations leader with more than two decades of experience helping startups and mission-driven organizations turn complexity into clarity.  As founder of Terri’s Gate , she partners with high-growth teams as a fractional head of foundational content, branding, proposals, and marketing communications. Terri blends technology, strategy, and storytelling to streamline workflows, build AI-enhanced content libraries, and train teams on responsible automation. Her work focuses on aligning messaging and operations with growth goals while ensuring that AI strengthens rather than replaces, human insight, judgment, rather than replaces, human insight, judgment, and connection.

FOUNDER:  Debbie Peterson

Being a native Charlottean, Debbie has witnessed many changes in our city from being a sleepy, slow growing one to a very diverse city with a booming economy and a myriad of cultures. Debbie's husband, Martin, and Debbie have enjoyed traveling to many other countries, but there’s no place like home! They feel blessed to have three loving children and five precious grandchildren.

Debbie was locally educated and worked in administrative positions for firms such as Elf Atochem, Novartis and Sealand. Her college education was focused on interior design, which she enjoyed for 15 years.

It’s been a great pleasure of Debbie's to be one of the founders of CWC, a club that is diverse, philanthropic and offers something for all ladies. It totally rounds out Debbie's life.

PARLIAMENTARIAN:
Tonya Fortune Smith

Tonya Fortune Smith is a seasoned governance professional with over 12 years of experience specializing in corporate governance, fiduciary strategy, and regulatory compliance. She currently serves as the Corporate Governance Manager at Sunbelt Rentals Holdings Inc.

 

Tonya leverages deep expertise in investor relations and SEC filings—the essential gears and levers of market transparency to ensure organizational stability and trust. By blending rigorous analytical oversight with robust ethical frameworks, she navigates complex regulatory landscapes to safeguard long-term integrity and drive sustainable corporate excellence.

 

Beyond her corporate tenure, Tonya is the founder of a boutique legacy planning consulting firm. Here, she seamlessly integrates her background in litigation, finance, and risk mitigation with a deeply personal approach to stewardship, ensuring that her clients' legacies are both protected and purposeful. Her experience in the non-profit sector—including serving as Treasurer on two Boards of Directors—further allows her to approach parliamentary procedures and organizational mandates with a rigorous, detail-oriented lens.

Tonya’s mission is to promote fiduciary excellence and accountable leadership. She is a strategic, creative, and results-driven leader who has found her calling in improving health outcomes for Black women during the maternal health crisis, menopause, and beyond. As a certified life coach, holistic fertility, birth, and postpartum support person and a certified end-of-life doula—she provides vital advocacy and guidance during life’s most sacred threshold points.

 

Driven by an insatiable curiosity regarding identity and belonging, Tonya believes that every individual deserves to feel safe and welcomed as their authentic self. Whether she is navigating a boardroom, or a delivery room, or omega home for individuals who are transitioning, she views these as transformational spaces that require compassionate advocacy and a commitment to honor each person's journey.

In her spare time, Tonya enjoys reading, philanthropic endeavors, traveling, and spending time with her husband, family, and grandchildren. She prioritizes grounding with the earth and self-care through massage maintenance to sustain her commitment to advocating for mental health, special needs individuals, and maternal mortality and morbidity rates.
